Do i need a FireWire cable if a have a camcorder that only has a USB to donload content to imovie on a mac?

i want to download my video to my mac but when i plug it in and put it on VCR, nothing happens. on imovie i switch it to camcorder and it only goes to the isight. how do i get the video on my video recorder to my macbook?

No, But you need software than can download from the USB port as well as the Firewire port.
