Can I download video from a camcorder via an E-SATA port, or is firewire my only hope for speed?

I know about USB 3.0, but I need to know whether or not to send my new laptop back because it doesn’t have a firewire port. It does, however, have an E-SATA port. Any suggestions? please and thank you!

Unless your camcorder has an E-SATA port to upload the video, it won’t work.

You can get a FireWire dongle to connect to the USB 2.0 (3.0 isn’t out yet) port. That way, you connect the camcorder to the dongle, and the dongle to the USB port.
