How do you focus your iPhone camera ?

A friend sold me his iPhone, and at the same time I wanted to take a picture of an item because I am selling it on eBay. The problem is when I take a picture very close up the picture it becomes very blurry. My friends said that’s the way it is but come on ! its a hundred dollars phone, the camera shouldn’t be this terrible. I looked online but I couldnt find a way so I was hoping some here can tell me how. Thank you.

Your friend is correct. There is no focus. The camera is not great. Apple has never considered the camera to be an important feature of the phone.
