can you do this with a camera?

some cameras have a mode dial on it…like portrait, landscape, manual, appature etc. If a camera has a portrait settings and a black and white color settings. Can you still take a portrait picture with a black and white color setting. Because the mode dial has those functions, and iam not sure if u can do them both at the same time. Cause if u switch the mode dial to black and white settings and then change it back to portrait…then it wouldnt be black and white, its kinda hard to explain.

Just shoot it in portrait mode and convert it to black and white in the computer. If you dont have a program to do that heres a free one from google http://picasa.google.com/download/
