camera noise level

Cannon PS S2 IS or Panasonic FZ7K?
Hi, I’m looking to make a MAJOR upgrade from my Sony CyberShot DSC-P32 camera to a higher-quality, more professional camera. As of right now, I’m torn between the two models mentioned. I would like some opinions on which you would choose and why. I understand that statistically the FZ7 is probably a (much) better camera, but the above normal noise levels are leaving me a little relunctant to go with that model (even though it can even be purchased a few dollars cheaper than the S2). I’m looking for a camera that can offer me vivid and natural color, with low noise, and good (possibly sharp) contrast.
So, does the FZ7′s better specs and benefits largely outweigh the S2-IS’s lack of noise? Which camera would you choose and why?
Thanks very much ahead of time for any answers. The best will be rewarded.
Most reviewers rate the S2 higher, based on lower noise, faster auto-focus and superior video clips. My daughter has an S2 and is very happy with it.
All of these cameras have some noise, especially at ISO 200 and above, and in low light. (Panasonic is still worse at noise.) However, most of it cannot be seen in prints.
You might check prices some more. Around here, the S2 is under $300 and the FZ7 is over $300.
When I made the choice earlier this year, I picked the Sony H1. It has the same overall performance as the S2 and FZ7, but has a 2.5 inch LCD. And I liked the weight and shape better. I am very happy with the H1.
I paid $350 for the H1 (now about $325); today I would look for a sale on the Sony H5 for about $400. (Circuit City has them for $450 this week, but includes a 1 GB Memory Stick.)
Good Luck!
