how to do bussiness connections with builders and customers to promote the bussiness?

i do wall and ceiling speakers,tv mounts,garage door openers,security cameras,intercoms,home theatre systems,central vacuums ,phone jacks,cables and much more……how i can have bussiness connectons with builders and find customers ,i did signs,flyers,in the newspapers ads,but they are not always works,i think it is important to have connections that people know you,i don’t know how to do connections.Can anyone give me advice,thanks

Ask your current & past customers for referrals. Maybe even give the people that gave you a referral a gift card, movie tickets, etc when the referral turns into a sale. If you do good work for a fair price word of mouth is usually your best source.

You can always go knocking on builders/contractors doors but that’s a tough road to follow (even more so lately w/ everybody looking for work) and usually has very limited success unless you offer something unique or are willing to work for a lot less than anybody else in your area that does the same thing.

Check their credit (especially builders/contractors) thoroughly, you don’t need any non-paying or very slow paying customers.
