help please!!! im buying a digital SLR camera THIS week! i dont know which one. please help me choose!!?

im a photography student starting to learn about the knittygritty details and techniques in photography and its waaay past the time where i need a dslr now. anyways, im going to buy off a cheap bidding website, but im looking for preferably a canon/nikon in a kit with twin lens rrp upto $1200. thanks. any extra info or websites links welcome and appreciated thanks : ) please help its urgent and i dont know where to start?! like could u direct me to a camera kit with a good body (megapixelwise) but with better lenses as i have been told is more important. i enjoy macro photography, but dont really need a macro lens.

Go to http://dpreivew.com and compare the different entry level Canon and NIkons, side by side.. read the reviews and check out the sample photos. Then, when you have narrowed down your choices, go to a real camera store and handle the different cameras and get a feel for them, try them with different lenses. Buy the one which feels right in your hands.
