When I connect my camera USB it shuts off my Windows wireless keyboard & mouse/turns the wireless sensor off?

When I connect my camera USB to the computer it shuts off/turns off my Windows wireless keyboard & mouse (while it is still connected to the USB) so the computer is completely inactive because I cannot use the mouse or keyboard, so I cannot use it all while the camera is connected therefore I cannot upload my photos. I hope this makes sense! Any suggestions on how to fix it? Thank you!
