oh mann guys can you help my with my digital camera problem?

okay so my dad got me the cutest digital camera for x-mas;)
it made me so happy.
well on my camera when you take a pic the FOCUS thingy moves out automatically.
well when i took a pic it died and it left the focus thingy out and not in.
so i thought whatever put it in its case and just left it alone.
now whenever i try to turn on my camer the FOCUS thingy wont move back in and its all blurry!!
can anyone help me on how to fix this:(

I’m sorry you’re having trouble with your camera. There are three common causes for the problem you described…

1) A weak or worn out battery –
If it uses a rechargeable battery try removing the battery and charging it overnight then put the freshly charged battery in. If it uses standard batteries buy a fresh set of high quality batteries and install them then switch it off and back on.

2) Some mishap has knocked the extended lens out of alignment -
If you think that happened GENTLY tug on the lens, DO NOT push it, to see if it will release the pinched mechanism. Then try turning the camera off and back on.

3) Dust, liquid or other foreign material has gotten into the mechanism -
This will almost always need to be corrected by a repair facility and will rarely be covered by the camera warranty.

If either of the first two conditions conditions are the cause and the above remedies do not work the camera should be returned to Pentax for repair. If you got it this past Christmas it should still be under warranty and most other repairs would be covered except for the cost of shipping the camera to the them.
