Which digital camera would you recommend?

I’m wondering which camera has better features for its price, the Canon PowerShot SD780 IS or the Nikon Coolpix S60?
Obviously the S60 is more flashy with a touch screen, but is the image quality comparable or better than the Canon SD780?

I would suggest the Canon DS780 for a couple reasons, the first one being the Nikon S60 is sluggish in zoom and in pictures, in artificial light unless you adjust your white balance appear yellow, the canon on the other hand has a better metering and gives better colours then the Nikon with less manipulation.

The canon also offers a better macro (close up) mode and easier to navigate menus. When the Nikon S60 was discontinued earlier this year I had 6 left in the store and it took me 6 months to sell them, where as any canon literally flies off the shelf. I managed to weasel 4 to another store… They were a hard sell since they touch screen was slow compared to the buttons.

Play with both side by side if your able and make the choice for yourself, between the two, I’d go Canon. Dpreview.com is a good site to compare cameras side by side. I wish you luck and hope this helps.
