Question about reasonably priced good quality digital cameras?

I’ve never had a reason to buy a camera until now…Im a new mommy. I want to purchase a reasonably priced good quality digital camera with easy to use software. I went to cnet.com and checked out the reviews and ratings for different brands but still not sure. Any recommendations?

1. Optical zoom at least 3 times – 2.Buy it from a shop that will let you handle the Camera first and also has a reputation for being helpful if there’s a future problem – 3. A Digital Camera is about the only item that I would take out an extended guarantee on if it’s an expensive model – 4. Check the price of memory cards for it, you don’t want to be saving on the Camera and have to buy expensive memory cards. Keith.
