digital camera touch screen nikon

If I want a camera that will last a long time, should it not have a touch screen?
I’m thinking about buying a digital camera, and want to get a sturdy one that will last at least a few years. I love how sleek the touch screen cameras look, but I feel like a camera with a standard control system would maybe last longer, since you aren’t pressing your fingers into the screen all day long.
What do you think?
Also, have any of you bought this camera? It’s the one I’m thinking of getting.

I am in agreement with your thought on a touchscreen. This technology is brought over from the new tablet computers. Of course the cameras of today are really a small computer with a lens attached.
Sometimes there just is too much gimmickry, and that gets in the way of taking pictures.
For best value I would suggest you look at the Fuji Finepix line of cameras and Olympus. And if you can spend more, Canon.
Check out amazon.com, they have the same price as the big guns in New York with out mickey mouse shipping prices.
