hd camcorder recommendations

standard definition vs. cheap hd. i need help with buying a camcorder for under £200?
i’ll be using it just for shooting friends and family. low light and good light. would be filming a bit of everything
i own a HD TV so would be cool to see HD footage of family etc but am i asking for too much for the money?
i own a little sanyo CG9 that films in VGA and its ok quality but i would like better. i also just bought a toshiba H20 today. only had a quick play but the quality is poor in low light. in fact its so poor, you can hardly see anything. it looks no better than my CG9
i haven’t tried it in good light yet though
anyway
so whats best? standard definition or cheap hd?
any recommendations to a half decent camera?
thanks
