media terms camera shots

People shots, framing?
Ok I hear headshots and a few other terms.
Generally I only do a little people work, mostly Camera Operating not stills.
The terms used are : ECU – extreme close up, CU, MCU -medium CU, MS – mid shot, LS – long shot, WS – wide shot.
What are the portraiture terms for stills? Are there such terms?
In my earpiece I might hear “pan left then goto a MCU of xyz”
How do you communicate compositions of people?
Sorry so unclear my English is a work in progress, thanks for patience!
Cosmic sorry its a”photography” question. Are you from another Cosmos?
Cosmos = world in Greek Langauge
Come on I must select best answer i need the 3 points!
Morning Antoni! Generally we have full shots (covering full standing body; floor to above head) 3/4 shots (covering about knees up) and bust shot or head shots (covering the bust up; somewhat like you would see on a business card) then we always do tight shot of the face (seems to be a sucker punch for the parents of children! Always sales) then we do what ever strikes the whimsy of the photographer. Dan is the most quite, uncreative man at a desk but put a camera in his hand and he turns into a completely different person. He always does above mentioned standards and then runs with it. I’m pretty certain I have a husband with multiple personalities because that camera sets him free.
As for communicating those poses, I have to say, Dan has a lovely knack for directing people to do what he wants without them really know they are doing it. I am not able to do that. He uses words but also his free hand to direct and they do it. I however can only use my words. If they don’t get it then I have to stop and position them. I guess that is the difference. Dan has been at it for 20 years. I married in and am not behind the camera a 10th of the time he is.
Hope this helped!
