photography aperture explained
isn’t aperture and iphoto edit basically the same if your an average person and not a pro photographer?

i like photography and all but i think 200 bucks is kinda a lot for aperture cuz i bought it and it seems like its the same to me. i dont mind keeping it if its actually diff..explain the diff pleasE? thanx!

iPhoto is a basic tool that people use to adjust brightness, contrast and other simple effects. It’s a purely a consumer-oriented, casual user app. I’d put it in the same class as Picasa.

Aperture is iPhoto with more tools. It’s geared for the type of person who enjoys photography as a serious hobby. (It competes with Adobe Lightroom in terms of the features it offers…organizational as well as technical adjustments).

If you’re someone who carries your DSLR everywhere, shoots regularly and really gets into post-processing, retouching and organizing your pics then Aperture is for you.

If you only grab your P&S to take photos of your family, pets, friends on special occasions or on infrequent vacations, then look & laugh at the shots once, and don’t want to spend much time editing your pics (beyond basic cropping or color adjustments) just use iPhoto.
