How did humans use to live before industrialization and farming? What’s the best source of information?

I’m looking for an in-depth overview of cultural, social, nutritional, organizational, and day-to-day living practices of humans before industrial and agricultural eras; from whichever amalgamate of sources is available.

I’m particularly interested in the best approximate of what people’s lives were like before recorded history. I don’t know whether to expect it in a book, website or collection of journal articles. I’m interested because I’m working on a photography project relating individuals’ lives to their environment and I’m curious where reading about these things will take me creatively.

If you have encountered any great eye-opening bits of info about this, I’d love to hear it :)

Look to the Ju/’hoansi for the answers to your questions. They are a foraging, hunter and gather based, culture who live in the Kalahari Desert in Africa. They are the oldest people on Earth, genetically we have been traced back to them. You might want to check out the ethnography by Richard B. Lee on them, it should help you out quite a bit. They are also called the San and the Kalahari Bushmen.
