is this studio lighting kit good?

What does it mean when the description says

OK watts compared to watts used to always work. Now with energy efficient cool light kits you get as much light as you did from a higher wattage incandescent or tungsten light at a much lower energy use. ( Westcott makes a 50 watt flourescent that is 900 watt tunsten equivalent ) So we see wattage equivalents. This may cause us to redefine how we describe studio lighting. We probably should be talking in Lumens anyway. A tungsten-halogen lamp puts out 17 – 22 lumens/watt. Even old flourescent lamps put out 65 -100 lumens/watt.

If the light truely puts out the equivalent lumens as a 800 watt tunsten light and its daylight color ( around 5000K) then yes it would work. If it takes both lights to put out 800 watt equivalent then as was said above this kit is a little underpowered. There looks to be no output selection so to get ratios you want between key and fill lights you will have to move fill lights back further. Remember when you double the distance you cut the light on the subject to 1/4 ( the inverse square law )
