Camera 500D – Excellent Purchase

I have purchased items from Amazon before – and usually been very pleased with price, delivery and customer service – however I have not taken the time to write a review. This time I have ……simply because others must know that the Camera 500D is an excellent camera. The quality of pictures is great, it handles well and it is very versatile. The EOS system takes a bit of getting use to (going on a course tommorow) but has the potential to do many of the things I have in mind. Most of the positive commments from other reviewers I would endorse – so I will not repeat. However I would like to point out something that I have not seen mentioned – the ability to link the Camera 500D to a PC (not just for transferring photos) but also for controlling the camera controls remotely + a live picture. A very useful facility for photographing pack shots etc.

Camera 500D - Early Days

I have had this camera just one month and I was originally going to purchase the EOS 450D. I am so pleased that I paid the extra.

This is a light weight and truely versitile camera. Having previously been a stills photographer with a gap of some years using just a compact digital, I found the useage of the camera both intuitive and great quality. I am looking forward to taking many more Photos. I would suggest that if you are attempting anything serious you need a decent Telephoto Lense. I have purchased the Canon EF 75-300IS but if you are looking to save money buy the kit with the 18-250mm lens.

Camera 500D - buy it buy it buy it!

This is my 5th digital Canon EOS and by far my favorite, AND the cheapest, huh? how does that make sence? technology eh ! … The clarity and fantastic simpleness to use this camera is outstanding, and I would urge anyone with a few quid that’s “umming and ahhing” on which camera to buy then go for this one … AND it’s got a video bit to it !!! what is going on? the next model will probably have a microwave in the back to make a healthy snack whilst getting the images printed ! Not only that but the ISO goes up to 32,000 … that’s almost night vision… if you love photography and you want an easy camera with great results then go for this .

Camera 500D – Great Camera For Moving Up From Digital Compact, Video Also

I recently bought Canon Camera 500D – I looked also at the new Sony alpha 380 (video clip review WhatCamera)among others. I had read as many reviews as I could but what helped me most was the video clips by Whatcamera magazine and a YouTube video clip by a IIlvy Njiokiktjen who won the EOS Camera 500D camera in Canon contest young new talent 2008. Although some people say the camera case feels a bit plastic, I disagree and feel that overall the build quality is v.good and on a par with other manuafacturers.

I think some of the reason for the plasticy view is that Canon have tried to make the camera as light as possible. The Camera 500D’s switches are however well made and not going to break easily. I like the fact that you have a flat fixed 3″ display with over 900k dots. Those cameras with pull out displays could potentially be broken – not worth the trouble I feel. Took my first photo the other day – fantastic quality with 15mp max – choice of other image sizes good. Live view also good. Still learning about all the features including HD video 1080 progressive.
