How does a PC-Camera work with Vista on a laptop via a USB socket, please?

It works using Skype, but does not appear under ‘Computer’ or ‘Scanners & Cameras.’
It has been installed/uninstalled several times from the CD with the same results.
With a WinXP laptop, it can be activated by clicking on the icon which appears under ‘My Computer.’
Thanks in advance.

Not totally sure I understand what you’re asking, as you say the camera is working with Skype, but don’t say exactly what you want to do. Typically when you install a camera the software on the CD will install a driver and some software to view the images and allow you to ftp to a webserver and various other features such as video streaming. Have you looked on your PC for the application software, or perhaps considered downloading some third party webcam software (such as http://www.superwebcam.com/ – use Google for more).
